We have a Ford Escort motor fitted to a small Alto floor sweeper. We had the motor rebuilt recently and ever since it is very very very smokey when first started. After running for no more than a few minutes it stops smoking! We took the head back off to make sure the valves and valve stem seals were ok so no problems there. It does not use excessive oil and the motor runs strong and quiet ALL day. Any ideas??? It seems to be at its worst when the motor has been stopped overnight and then run first thing in the morning. Have we left something out??? Wrong headgasket?? We will try anything!
