A 90 degree tube at top rear of manifold has rust at base of tube. The wateris running down the right side of tranny case. This coolant system is killing me. Everything checks out OK, but I have a leak I just can't pinpoint exactly. Please Help. Mike

The tube you are talking about rums from the heater core hose down into the intake manifold. It is in the back of the engine on the passenger side and is almost impossible to get to without removing the intake manifold. I don't see any hose clamps or any devise holding it in the manifold. The image I got from Ford dealership makes it look like it fits down into the manifold. All I know is that it leaks while under pressure and it will also leak when you remove the tank cap and allow the air to get into the system.

I tried to extract this tube and replace it, but it was so badly rusted it broke at the intake manifold. It's only a 20 dollar part, but, the problem is that the intake manifold has to be removed to get to it if it breaks! This involves removing the individual coils from each spark plug, the fuel injection rails and injectors, as well as all of the electrical connections that go with them. I couldn't find any mechanics which knew anything about this problem, so I did it myself. It was tedious, but I saved about 400 to 500 dollars doing myself. I was going through a lot of antifreeze trying to find this leak. It's not in a good location.

The 90 degree tube that is press fit into the manifold was the problem. Ford wants $297.00 for a small peace of tubing. But then you also need a new set of gaskets,O-Rings and Anti-Freeze. What a big pain in the ass. Mike
