Battery won't stay charged. |

I have a 2002 Escape and I am having trouble with battery staying charged. It shut off on me while it was left running for a little bit. We were told the battery was bad, so we replaced it. Two later it shut off while I was driving, so we replaced the alternator. One week later I had just started to leave and all the idiot lights came on, which is what happened right before it shut off while I was driving, so I stopped the car immediately and now it won't start. I am not sure what could be wrong with it now. It seems like it is one thing after another with this car. I also have a problem with the power steering fluid leaking and the brakes make a terrible noise, but no one knows what is wrong with them. My check engine light is always on, but no code is given when tested, and the air bag light flashes. I have had a few other problems with it, but luckily they ended being a recall later on. If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing these problem please let me know. Thanks.

Sometimes, technicians will replace what they "think" could be the problem. And as you've found out, sometimes may not fix the original problem.
Each time you've had the vehicle troubleshot, did you take it to the same place? If so, I'd say tell them everything that's happened up to now. Tell them you're unhappy that they're not fully diagnosing the problem (if it is truly all related) and want them to correct the issue. Don't know if it'll do any good, but it's worth a try. Are all the battery connections clean and tight? Even new batteries can be bad. Have it tested. Autozone (or similar) will check your battery for free. That's strange that your check engine light is on and there's no code stored. Autozone can check codes for free, too. When the airbag light flashes, pay attention to where you are. Is it always around the same area? I'm curious on this one for personal reasons, so please send me an email on this one! Power steering leaking is new to me. Haven't heard of that problem from others. Lots of people have been reporting that the brakes are pretty abrasive on the rotors. When it comes time to replace the brake pads, it's about time to also replace the rotors. Keep that in mind when you replace your brake pads. A lot of people have been switching to ceramic brake pads to cut down on noise and brake dust. |
