It takes at least 3 attempts to start my Bronco. When started, it idles very roughly even when the (4.9 L) engine is warm. I have recently done a complete tune-up and the problem persists. I have been told that the problem may be the catalytic converter.

my bet is a bad supply pump.
those have two fuel pumps, one in the tank, and the high pressure pump on the frame rail... my guess the tank pump is toast and it takes several attempts because the hi-pressure pump has to draw the fuel... now, even though the high pressure pump is enough to start it, it's not real good on it... so check it out |

Did you check the fuel filter too?

Thank you, replacing the fuel filter made all the difference.
