I would love to know if I can switch my automatic transmission (3 speed) to a manual 5 speed? I can't bear to watch the tach at 4000 rpms on the interstate anymore! The 4000 rpms are at 72mph or so (you know, the speed at which traffic flows smooth). Any tips will help. How can I research what will fit? Is there a reference book to show compatibility? I want to reduce the rpm's, which will increase fuel economy by 5mpg also. Less rpm's means longer engine life, and shifting is still fun! The only benifit to the 3 speed auto is that I have been taking the secondary back roads to keep the rpm's down, I have been places I didn't know were there!
ps I tried to cover up the tach so I couldn't see it but that didn't work.
Thanks.
