When i turned the heater on for the first time this fall, i heard a flapping noise about once per second. After about 3 or 4 minutes it will stop making a
noise but the heat never comes on. i checked vaccum on the actuator on the passenger side of the car. it is ok and the actuator works when i change to heat.
There must be another movable baffel inside that i can not see that is making the noise. sounds like it is near the center of the car.
Has anyone had this problem?

I have a 98 windstar that will not shift out of park. I have tried the turn the van off and turn the key one click forward and shift into neutral and then start the van. This worked the first time but now it will not start when in neutral. The van starts fine in park. I changed the brake light switch on the brake pedal only to find out that the old switch was fine.
Just started hearing a whinning sound from front of engine. Can't tell if it's coming from altenator, power steering pump or water pump. Serpentine belt was showing wear so I replaced that but the sound still persisted. No coolant leaking near water pump but vehicle has 101k miles with original pump so I replaced the water pump but sound still persisted. Belt tensioner appeared to be in good shape when I removed it while replacing water pump. I'm thinking it's gotta be the altenator or power...
