If the new Ford Freestar minivans demonstrate anything, it's that a new name is a lot cheaper than new sheetmetal. The Freestar and Monterey monikers attach to one of the most innocuous "redesigns" in automotive history. Even serious minivan enthusiasts, were there such a thing, would have a tough time telling the new Freestar from the old Windstar.

would think that these things would be installed in a protected area and in sealed skin. Has anyone ever heard of this being a problem with other freestars or

I placed a K&N drop-in filter in my '04 Freestar last night. K&N will not list one for an 04. Use part number 33-2266. It's the same filter as the LS, Jaquar S-type, etc. use. It fits perfectly. The problem I had, was placing the friggen air box lid back on properly. It was very hard to get the bottom part hooked in. A 2 minute job ended up taking 20-30 minutes. I had to remove the whole intake tube from the throttle body, and move some wiring harness from underneath. It was...

Love my new freestyle, but twice something weird has happened. Long after the car is turned off, locked, and doors shut, I notice the front headlights very softly blinking. It goes away if I use the fob to unlock and then relock the doors, but what could be causing this? It may be happening more often, I have only noticed it twice.

I have a problem with the 'recirculating inside air' function. It stays on for 12 minutes then lets in smelly outside air. All my other vehicles never did this. I could breathe fresh inside air as long as I wanted. Dealer doesn't think it is a problem...won't correct it. Also, I have to press the little 'car' button to get it to come on inside air.
